What can you tease about your upcoming performance? How are you getting ready for that? You’re also gearing up to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I’m so happy that this show started off with such a noble cause and that it’s following through with it on the network as well. Now, thanks to the World Wide Web, parents can go to and can find activities and learning materials to help kids in math, science, what have you. Every script, every note that I get on set, everything that our animators work with is based on research, and what better way to do that than by partnering with Save the Children, who already has an incredible history of helping kids and making sure that they get the learning opportunities that they need in safe environments? Since our show premiered 25 years ago, there has been 25 years of new research on how kids learn and what methods are best suited for today’s kids. We do that by starting from the ground level-and that’s research. While our show is heavy on the nostalgia factor because a lot of our original viewers are parents now, the mission has always been to help kids prepare for preschool and the rest of their lives. Josh: There are a lot of shows that come back for the pure nostalgia factor. What has it meant to you to be a part of a project that does so much good? PC: Nickelodeon and Blue’s Clues & You are continuing their partnership with Save the Children. I’m so happy to be part of this and to be able to use this as a springboard for families at home to learn more about Hanukkah and to continue to learn about other cultures and religions around the world and how they celebrate their special time of year! We get to sing with a special character that we’re playing Blue’s Clues to figure out the identity of. We get to sing an incredible original Hanukkah song that’s so fun. Josh: A Blue’s Clues Festival of Lights is full of some classic Hanukkah games. What can fans expect from A Blue’s Clues Festival of Lights? PC: Blue’s Clues & You has a new holiday special dropping very soon. Pop Culturalist was lucky enough to speak with Josh about A Blue’s Clues Festival of Lights, how he plans to celebrate the holidays, and how the franchise is teaming up with Save the Children for a good cause. Host Josh Dela Cruz and Blue play Blue’s Clues to figure out who it is and celebrate the holiday by spinning dreidels, frying latkes, and performing an original Chanukah song. In A Blue’s Clues Festival of Lights, a special guest comes to Periwinkle’s house to celebrate Chanukah. “And I wanted to tell you that I really couldn’t have done all of that without your help.Blue’s Clues & You! is getting into the holiday spirit with A Blue’s Clues Festival of Lights. “I mean we started out with clues, and now it’s what? Student loans, and jobs, and families, and some of it has been kind of hard, you know? I know, you know,” Burns says in the video. “I honestly thought it was cool that he did that,” Chavez said. He also tells viewers how proud he is of them. In the video message, Burns explains to his fan base that he left the show in order to go to college, but he never forgot about the show or its viewers. The hosts end the song with, “We made our mark, but we always knew that we owe it all to you,” thanking viewers of several generations for their part in keeping the show alive.Īlong with the music video, Burns sent out his own heartfelt message to original viewers. The three hosts united for a music video for the song “You Can’t Spell Blue Without You” that was released online early September. ‘Blue’s Clues’ helped childhoods from all over by teaching kids a lot of things,” Levi Aday, a criminal justice major, said.Īs a part of the 25th anniversary, Burns, along with Donovan Patton (Joe) and Josh Dela Cruz teamed together to give viewers of all ages an anniversary worth remembering. In 2019, Blue reappeared in “Blue’s Clues and You” with Joshua Dela Cruz playing Steve and Joe’s younger cousin.“I feel like if you liked the show so much it probably gave you curiosity and changed the way you thought about small details,” Perla Chavez, a biology major, said.īlue, Burns and the other cast members were a childhood staple in many homes. Steve Burns ended his time on the show, and introduced Donovan Patton as his brother, Joe, who would take over the show until the original series ended in 2006. It was a children’s show that was interactive for young viewers to help Blue, a puppy, and the host, Steve Burns at the time, find clues throughout their day. Blue, Steve, Joe, Josh and the rest of Blue’s gang celebrated 25 years of looking for clues, dancing and mail time.
